Adopt-A-Family Program
Jewish Family Service of Orange County (JFS) is currently seeking individuals and/or groups to participate in some very meaningful and important Mitzvah projects.
Donate gift cards for gasoline, food, personal items, book and school supplies or make a special donation for the purchase of these items and give the families in our Adopt-A-Family program the feeling of pleasure and pride when they can go into a store and select what they need. Chanukah Adopt-A-Family
Imagine.....The Festival of Lights approaches and everyone around you is providing their families with gifts and special foods, but you are unable to because you don't have the money to buy these things. Imagine how sad and frustrating this must be.
JFS would like to share these stories with you –
David and Barbara, parents of four children, told us that David lost his job because of the down-sizing of his company and Barbara’s job was outsourced two months ago. They can no longer afford to pay their mortgage and just received a foreclosure notice.
A sobbing mother of three shared that her husband of 15 years walked out on the family and she doesn’t know where to turn. She finds herself having to choose between groceries and medicine for her son.
- The tumultuous state of our economy and the resulting unemployment are pushing people to the edge of their resources.
- Reduction in benefits for the elderly and disabled have left many of them on the brink of poverty
- Too many families face a decision of gas in their car or food on their tables.
