Friendly Visitor to provide occasional transportation to medical appointments, local grocery store shopping and other simple errands to an individual with a chronic disease who lives in Costa Mesa.
Tutors and Mentors to provide basic academic assistance to at risk youth. Tutoring is held on Tuesday and Thursdays at JFS 3:30-5:00.
Outreach and Planning Volunteer Opportunities
Research Associate (2 positions): Gathers statistical and survey data about issues and trends in health and human services in Orange County. Contacts and interviews key individuals regarding their perceptions, observations and recommendations on matters related to JFS clientele and mission.
Print Media Liaison: Contacts various print media regarding coverage for agency programs and human interest stories. This person will establish key people at the print media for JFS contacts.
Referral Sources Outreach: This person will contact sources of referral for selected JFS programs and special workshops.
Legislation and Issues Advocate: In consultation with the CEO and Board Chairman, will advise legislative and political leaders regarding issues that impact the agency and its clients. Will communicate by regular mail and email to public officials at all levels of government.
Volunteer Recruiter: In consultation with the agency’s director of volunteers, will assist in the identification and recruitment of service delivery volunteers.
Emergency Food and Shelter Advocate: This individual will develop resources for emergency services such as food and gas cards, affordable emergency shelter, health care and medicine.
